Highlander Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a student-run EMS organization dedicated to providing care during emergent and non-emergent situations for the UC Riverside Campus and surrounding communities.
SHCC is open to currently enrolled UCR undergraduate and graduate students. We accept the University of California’s Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP) and Highlander Care.
As of right now, the SHC will offer care without out-of-pocket fees to those on the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP) or Highlander Care, another student healthcare plan that allows students to access a limited amount of services for a reduced price.

Many services, including preventive care, are offered there at no cost or for a low copay. If you need care SHS can’t provide, you’ll receive a referral for care outside SHS.

Highlander Care is a plan offered to UC Riverside students who have chosen to opt out of the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP). It provides basic medical urgent services at a quarterly fee of $125. To enroll in Highlander Care, simply contact Academic HealthPlans to enroll.
